    Getting to Budapest

    • If you travel by plane you arrive at Budapest's international airport ("Budapest Airport" or "Liszt Ferenc Airport"), see bud.hu/en. Here you have the possibility to use public transportation or to take a cab (called "Taxi").

      • If you choose public transportation, you will find Bus 100E right outside the terminal. It takes you to the city center ("Deák Ferenc tér"), and costs 900 HUF. Tickets are to be purcased on the bus. The first bus leaves the airport at 5:00 a.m., the service frequency is 20 minutes.

      • If you wish to travel by cab (called "Taxi"), we suggest you to choose the yellow cars labelled "Főtaxi".

      • There is a possibility to travel by minibus called "miniBUD". It takes you to your desired destination but must be shared with other passengers. The price depends on the group's size. Tickets can be booked in advance on-line.

    • If you travel by train you will arrive at one of the following train stations ("pályaudvar" in Hungarian): "Déli pályaudvar", "Keleti pályaudvar", "Nyugati pályaudvar" (Southern, Eastern, Western, respectively).     • If you wish to travel by car, please consult your hotel/accomodation whether you will be provided a parking lot. The parking situation is severe in the city center! If you liked to come to the workshop venue by car, please let us know, and we will arrange to let you in.

    Public transportation

    Budapest is the capital of Hungary with a rather good public transport network. With the help of the following usuful links you will be able to plan your journeys in advance, making your stay in Budapest even more fluent. We especially call your attention to the variety of passes, such as "Seven-day Budapest-travelcard" for 4950 HUF and all the "Budapest Cards". The single ticket bought in advance costs 350 HUF and on the spot 450 HUF. Please pay attention to the fact that tickets must be validated when getting on the vehicle, and you will need a new ticket for each change.


    You may buy your tickets or pass at the ticket vending machines to be found at all major stations. You shall choose English language. In order to familiarize yourself with the machines' appearence and usage, please visit the website bkk.hu/automata.
